She rose to fame with hits like “I Just Don’t Understand” and roles in “Bye Bye Birdie” and “Viva Las Vegas” opposite Elvis Presley. While she was marketed as Hollywood’s risqué young star, Ann-Margret sought roles to showcase her versatility.
In 1967, she married actor Roger Smith, who later became her manager. Their partnership, both personal and professional, flourished despite challenges, including Smith’s battle with myasthenia gravis and Parkinson’s disease. Ann-Margret dedicated herself to caring for him until his death in 2017.
Now in her 80s, Ann-Margret lives in the Los Angeles home she and Smith bought in 1968. She honors his memory and continues to stay connected with his children and grandchildren. Recently, she returned to acting with a role in “The Kominsky Method” and released an album, “Born to Be Wild.” Despite the loss of her beloved husband, Ann-Margret remains a graceful icon, finding joy in life and cherishing the love they shared.
