Mom warns of life-threatening lung damage from vaping

oyda Cordero Faliero, a 39-year-old mother from New York, switched from smoking cigarettes to vaping, thinking it was a healthier choice.

However, less than two years later, she was rushed to the emergency room with severe lung damage called bullous emphysema—air pockets had formed in her lungs, and one burst, causing her lung to collapse.

This condition has drastically affected her daily life; she now has to sleep sitting up to avoid choking and finds even simple tasks like cooking or lifting a gallon of milk exhausting.

Doctors believe vaping caused her lung damage due to inflammation and fluid buildup. Loyda admits that what started as a way to quit smoking became a harmful addiction.

She warns others that vaping is not harmless “water vapor” but can cause serious and sometimes life-threatening lung damage. Her story serves as a warning to think carefully before vaping, as it may have dangerous consequences even if marketed as a safer alternative.
