San Diego Fire Ravages 3 Populated Areas – Latest Updates

On January 21, 2025, San Diego County faced three separate fires, prompting evacuations and firefighting efforts. The Lilac Fire, which started at 1:19 a.m. in Bonsall, burned 85 acres but is now 50% contained. Evacuation orders have been lifted, though some road closures remain.
The Pala Fire, igniting at 2:16 a.m. in Fallbrook, burned 17 acres and is fully contained, with evacuation orders lifted. The Friars Fire in San Diego, which started at 12:32 p.m., burned 3 acres and was also contained without the need for further evacuations.
Evacuees from the Lilac Fire were relocated to Riverview Church in Bonsall. In response to fire threats, several local schools closed, including those in Julian and Ramona school districts. The San Diego County Office of Education also reported ongoing closures due to power outages. San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) implemented Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS), urging residents to stay informed through their outage map. Local agencies are continuing recovery efforts, and firefighters remain active in the affected areas.
