Bindi Irwin Rushed To Hospital Hours Before Steve Irwin Gala Due To Ruptured Appendix
Bindi Irwin Hospitalized Hours Before Steve Irwin Gala Due to Ruptured Appendix
Just hours after arriving in Las Vegas for a gala honoring her late father, Bindi Irwin, 26, was rushed to the hospital with a ruptured appendix and underwent emergency surgery. Her mother, Terri Irwin, stayed by her side, missing the event alongside her daughter. Her brother Robert Irwin attended the gala and shared the news, saying they hadn’t expected a medical emergency.
Before the surgery, Bindi tried to push through her pain, determined to attend. Doctors, however, said her appendix had to come out immediately. The gala, supporting the Irwin family’s conservation nonprofit Wildlife Warriors, went ahead with Robert in attendance.
Bindi has been open about her decade-long battle with undiagnosed endometriosis. Despite severe symptoms—chronic pain, fatigue, and nausea—doctors dismissed her concerns. Eventually, she was diagnosed with over 30 endometriosis lesions, some fusing organs together. Surgery in the U.S. brought major relief.
She credits her daughter Grace for motivating her to seek proper care, wanting to be the best mother she could. While endometriosis has no cure, Bindi feels hopeful post-surgery and now advocates for better awareness and diagnosis for women’s health issues.
Despite the challenges, Bindi remains dedicated to continuing her father’s conservation legacy. She also reflected on her close bond with her family, especially after losing her father in 2006, and how her mother helped her and Robert heal with gratitude and daily reflection. Through her experiences, Bindi aims to empower women to speak up, seek help, and never ignore their health.
