Martindale, born on December 4, 1933, in Jackson, Tennessee, began his career as a disc jockey before becoming a TV host. His big break came with “Gambit” in 1972, which became a hit.

Before his TV career, Martindale was also involved in rock ‘n’ roll history, famously helping Elvis Presley get his first on-air interview. Martindale was known for his warmth, charm, and connection with his audience, becoming a beloved figure on television for over 70 years.

In his later years, Martindale continued to contribute to entertainment, including hosting “The History of Rock ‘n’ Roll” radio show.
