Every individual is uniquely special and beautiful in their own way. As society becomes more accepting of differences, people like Nicole Lucas Hallson are leading the way. Nicole is raising her two children, Asher and Winry, while promoting the message that imperfections make us perfect.
Her daughter, Winry, was born with a rare birthmark called congenital melanocytic nevi (CMN), which covers a portion of her face. Initially, Nicole was worried, but she soon realized that the mark was harmless. CMN can appear as brown or black patches and vary in size. Although it increases Winry’s risk of developing melanoma, Nicole ensures Winry is protected with sunscreen and hats.
Nicole is determined to show the world that being different is beautiful. She shares Winry’s story to encourage others and to make sure children with birthmarks or other differences are represented. Winry, now 13 months old, is a joyful, energetic baby who spreads happiness wherever she goes.
