Since they had already expressed anger and hostility, the trust was forfeited, and the money went to charity. Linda’s final act, though imperfect, was a surprising defense of Carol, offering a chance for healing.
Carol now plans to move into the vacation home with her family, finding solace in this unexpected inheritance and a bittersweet sense of closure. Linda’s final apology, though delayed, allowed Carol to reclaim part of her history.
